fish on!

Caught my first Tarpon yesterday!
Still was feeling pretty sick, but after going to the doc and getting loaded up on drugs, I had a brief spurt of energy, and really wanted to go try my sabiki rig for baitfish. It was just the hour before sunset, but with plenty of light left. The sabiki yielded a few nice little 3″-4″ fish, so I hooked the smallest and dropped it back in to try and tempt the resident pair of Tarpon that live around our work dock.

havin’ de chitis

I am sick. This really bums me out. A whole wasted weekend. When I felt it coming on Friday, at least I had the energy to go to town and take care of some paperwork. Managed to get into town again on Saturday shop, but then yesterday it was all I could do drag my ass across the road for a loaf of bread and some OJ.
Like I said to Slacks on the phone, if I have to miss some work for whatever reason, it doesn’t bother me, but when I miss out on productive days working on my own boat, it’s a real downer.
Now it’s Monday morning, and I’m too wheezy to sleep, not energetic enough to work, and thus stuck at an energy level useful only for reading wikis and watching crappy cable. Ug.

the internet is funny that way

So today during my lunchbreak, I’m flipping through the tv channels idly as my midday meal cooks (I’m back house-sitting for awhile), and what pops onto the screen but Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Whoa, flashback! I can’t help but watch.
A little bit in, I suddenly remember that Joan of Arc (in the movie) is really awesome, or at least I for one always thought so. When it gets to her scene, I’m all flashing back to highschool moviestar crushing. Still no idea who she is, and while I’m not a celebrity hound, I’m curious… Enter the miracle of the internet; Wiki, IMdb, etc., and I find my Joan. Jane, actually.
Turns out that Jane Wiedlin is actually a lot more well-known for her many other exploits, not the Excellent Adventure. But what do I know? I’m now thinking that she’s my new second-favourite 5′-tall chick guitar rocker, after Erin of course.
